Rental Guidelines

What to check before you book, at handover, and when you bring the car back. None of this is our policy — it is the dealer's, and this is where to find it.

Before you book

Everything that decides what a rental costs and what it includes is on the listing, before you send a request. Four things are worth reading twice:

  • Which way you are renting. A listing may offer self drive, a driver, or both — and the two are priced separately, so the figure you compare has to be the one you intend to book.
  • The rate and the total. The price shown is worked out from the dealer's rate and the dates you chose, counting both the first and last day. Longer rentals are billed in whole months, then whole weeks, then the days left over, at whichever of the dealer's rates comes out cheaper — the checkout shows the workings.
  • The deposit. Where a listing states a security deposit it is shown separately from the rental, because it is not part of what you are paying to rent — it is held by the dealer and returned with the car.
  • The conditions. Fuel policy, any kilometre allowance, the minimum age and licence conditions, and whether the vehicle may leave its city. Where a listing says nothing about one of these, it has not been agreed — ask the dealer before you collect.

Nothing is committed at this point. A booking is a request until the dealer accepts it; see the cancellation policy for what changes when they do.

Renting self drive

  • You will need a valid driving licence, and dealers commonly ask for CNIC as well. Take the originals: a photograph of a licence is not a licence.
  • The dealer checks your licence and any age or licence-length condition at handover, and may refuse the vehicle if it is not met. That is worth knowing before you travel to collect it.
  • A refundable security deposit is usual. The amount is on the listing where the dealer has set one.
  • Fuel and kilometres are the dealer's terms. Some quote a daily allowance with a charge beyond it; some quote nothing, which means it has not been agreed rather than that it is unlimited.

Renting with a driver

  • The driver is the dealer's, and their hours are part of that listing's terms. Overtime beyond those hours is charged by the dealer, at their rate.
  • Fuel is often included and not always — it varies by vehicle and by trip, and the listing is where it is stated.
  • For travel between cities, expect the dealer to want the route agreed in advance. Some approve each intercity trip individually, which is why the checkout asks where you are going.
  • You do not need a licence to book with a driver, and no deposit is usual — though a dealer may still ask for identification.

At pick-up

  • Confirm where and when with the dealer directly. The city is on the booking; the exact place and time are between you and them.
  • Walk round the vehicle before you take it and photograph anything already damaged — with the date visible if your phone will show it. This is the single most useful five minutes of any rental.
  • Note the fuel level and the odometer, and check they match whatever the handover note says. If there is no handover note, your photographs are the record.
  • Check the papers are in the car — registration and insurance. You are the one who will be asked for them.

During the rental

  • Stay inside what was agreed — the dates, the kilometre allowance if there is one, and the cities the vehicle is allowed to travel between.
  • Talk to the dealer first about anything to do with the vehicle: a breakdown, an accident, a delay, or wanting to keep it longer. They own it and they are the only ones who can agree a change.
  • Come to us if you cannot reach them, or if the arrangement is not being honoured. We keep the record of the booking and we can act on a dealer's standing on the platform — contact support.
  • In an accident, deal with the immediate situation and the authorities first, then tell the dealer. Whether their insurance covers it, and what your liability is, is the policy they hold — not ours.

At return

  • Return it on the agreed date, at the agreed place. Returning to a different city is only allowed where the listing says so, and some dealers permit it only with their approval.
  • Meet the fuel policy. If it was full when you took it, bring it back full; where the listing states something else, that is the rule.
  • Be there for the inspection and photograph the vehicle again as you hand it over. A dispute about damage a week later is decided by whoever has the pictures.
  • Get the deposit settled at handover if you can, and in writing if you cannot. It is the dealer's to return — we never held it, so we cannot release it.
