How cancellation works
A booking on DriveOnRent goes through two stages, and which one you are in decides what cancelling means. When you send a booking it is a request: nothing is committed and nothing is owed. When the dealer accepts it, it becomes a confirmed booking and their own terms start to apply.
The cancellation terms themselves are the dealer's, not ours. Any free-cancellation window, any deposit condition and any charge is set by them and shown on the listing before you book. We do not set those terms and we do not take your money, so what this page describes is the mechanism — who can cancel, from where, and with how much notice — rather than a fee schedule.
Before the dealer accepts
While a request is still waiting, you can withdraw it and that is the end of it. There is nothing to pay, nothing to recover and no penalty: the dealer has not committed a vehicle and you have not committed to anything either.
A dealer can also decline a request at this stage. If they do, the request ends and you are free to book elsewhere — we record the decline, and repeated declines count against a dealer's standing on the platform.
After the dealer accepts
Once a booking is confirmed you may still cancel it, but at least 48 hours before pick-up. That is not a formality — it is enforced, and a later attempt is refused rather than charged.
The reason is the dealer's side of it: by accepting they have turned other work away for those dates, and our service fee is charged to them at that moment. A cancellation the night before leaves them holding a vehicle they can no longer re-let. 48 hours is the point at which the dates can realistically be filled again.
Inside that window, the booking stands as far as the platform is concerned. Talk to the dealer — many will come to an arrangement — and then to us if you cannot reach them.
How to cancel
- If you have an account: open the booking from your bookings and use Cancel booking. The page tells you whether this booking still has the 48 hours of notice before you try, so you are not refused after committing to the decision.
- If you booked as a guest: open Track booking with your booking reference and the mobile number you gave, then contact us — support can withdraw it for you. There is no cancel button on the tracking page, because a link that anybody with the reference could press is not a safe place for an irreversible one.
Cancelling is final. A cancelled booking cannot be reopened, so if you want the same vehicle on different dates, send a new request rather than cancelling and asking us to restore it.
If the dealer pulls out
A dealer who cannot fulfil a booking they had accepted does not cancel it — the platform does not let them. Their exit closes the booking instead, which puts your requirement back in front of other dealers as an open lead. The difference matters: you still need a car, and a cancellation would have thrown that away along with the booking.
You are told when this happens, and you are under no obligation to take any of the offers that follow. Where a dealer had taken a deposit directly from you, recovering it is between you and them — see below.
Refunds
We never hold your money, so we cannot refund it. There is no payment gateway on this site and there never has been: you settle with the dealer directly when you collect the vehicle. That is stated on every listing and in our terms, and it is the single most important thing to understand about cancelling.
So if you have paid a dealer anything — a deposit, an advance, a booking amount — any refund is theirs to make, on the terms you agreed with them. We can put you back in touch and we record what happened, but we are not a party to that payment and cannot reverse it.
Not turning up
A confirmed booking you neither collect nor cancel is a no-show. The dealer held a vehicle for dates they could have sold, so whatever their terms say about it applies — and unlike a cancellation, you have given them no notice at all.
If something went wrong on the day, tell us. A no-show recorded against you is visible to dealers considering your future requests, and we would rather have the real reason on the booking than an unexplained gap.
Contact support
For anything about a booking you have already made, the phone is the fastest route — we can open it while you are on the line. +92 22 555 33 99 or support@driveonrent.pk, and the contact page has the rest.
Have your booking reference ready. It begins with BK- and is on the confirmation and on the booking itself.
